Partnerships

International Rhino Foundation (IRF)

C2S2 has partnered with the International Rhino Foundation (IRF) to restore the USA-based captive breeding program for the southern black rhino (SBR). In the coming year, C2S2 and SPA will be working to identify new rhino holders with large tracts of land for SBR holding and breeding. Moving forward, the Southern Black Rhino Sustainability Program (SBRSP) will be adopting the SPA model to preserve this endangered species.

Sahara Conservation Fund (SCF)

SPA signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Sahara Conservation Fund (SCF) to help preserve imperiled Saharan species. SCF leads the world in successful reintroduction of scimitar-horned oryx into Chad. C2S2 members and SPA participants are providing advice on release/population management scenarios – and eventually – our expertise in genomics. This partnership enables SPA to move toward a One Plan Approach for our target species where ex situ and in situ efforts are linked to create a truly sustainable global population.

Zoological Association of America (ZAA)

SPA is a recognized Conservation Partner with the Zoological Association of America. Becoming a conservation partner with the U.S.'s 2nd largest zoological accreditation organization allows for SPA to continue reaching out and building our diverse participant base.
